Thesis Title: Ideology, Image-making and the Media in Putin's Russia

About

I am a senior researcher at the Uppsala Centre of Russian Studies, Uppsala University. I give lectures on the courses offered by the Dept on topics such as Russian mass media, terrorism and crisis management. In the autumn 2009 term I started my own course there looking at the use of political communication and propaganda in conflict in the Former Soviet Space.

My other employment is based at Crismart (Crisis Management Research and Training) in Stockholm. I look after the Eastern European Research projects run there, plus other ones. Currently crisis management projects with teams in Kaliningrad, Moscow, Ukraine and China.

Have submitted a manuscript recently to the Edwin Mellan Press, which is on mass media reporting on how the Russian Orthodox Church is used to built a sense of identity and values in contemporary Russia.

A second manuscript that is in the process is on how Russian mass media report on the Russian war on terrorism. This was released in January 2010.
